Chad Buelow
Principal
Chad Buelow is a Principal at Flying Horse Investments (FHI), where he is responsible for sourcing and managing lender relationships and procuring debt for acquisitions, construction, or refinancing of existing loans. He is a founding partner of FHI and sits on the firm’s Investment Committee.
Chad is also a Managing Director at Pegasus Capital Markets, where he arranges and structures financing for commercial real estate investments throughout the country from commercial banks, CMBS lenders, credit unions, debt funds, and life insurance companies. Chad’s experience includes permanent, bridge, and construction financing secured by virtually all property types, with a focus on retail shopping centers, office buildings, and multifamily properties. In addition, Chad represents financial institutions in connection with the disposition of performing and non-performing loans and REO properties.
Before founding Pegasus Capital Markets in 2013, Chad was Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Verona Capital Markets Inc., a boutique real estate investment banking firm based in Los Angeles, where he arranged debt and equity financing for institutional and middle market clients and represented financial institutions in connection with the disposition of distressed assets.
Prior to his experience at Verona, Chad was a Senior Associate at Pircher, Nichols & Meeks, a national real estate law firm headquartered in Los Angeles, where he was a real estate finance attorney specializing in the representation of lenders and borrowers in connection with mortgage and mezzanine loan transactions. While at Pircher, Chad supervised the closing of hundreds of loans in California and throughout the country involving all types of commercial real estate – including retail shopping centers, office buildings, apartment complexes, medical office buildings, hotels, warehouses, industrial complexes, self-storage facilities, mobile home parks, film studios, and raw land. Chad’s experience included the structuring of fixed and floating rate loans, conduit and portfolio loans, permanent loans, bridge loans, construction loans, land loans, junior mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, leasehold loans, A/B note structures, promissory note splits, loan participations, loan modifications and workouts, loan purchases and sales, loan assumptions, and inter-creditor agreements. Before joining Pircher, Chad was an Associate in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto, California.
Chad received a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2000. In 1997, he received a B.A., with Distinction, in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Chad has been a member of the State Bar of California since his admission in December 2000 and is a member of its Real Property Law Section.
